Quality Assurance

As a step towards the institutionalization and internalization of quality in education, an IQAC was formed in the college as per the guidelines of NAAC, in the year 2000.

Vision & Mission

To sustain and ameliorate quality in all institutional approaches to achieve Integrated Institutional Excellence

  • Members of the IQAC meet frequently to review, discuss and plan for quality sustenance and enhancement in academics as well as administration
  • Meetings with the external advisory members are held at least once every semester for expert advice and guidance. In addition, an independent Internal Academic Audit Cell (IAAC) has been constituted to provide the necessary checks for the working of the IQAC
  • The process of evaluation of teaching and non-teaching staff by the department heads concerned, and an evaluation of each of the heads of departments by the members of their respective departments, is another method of internal quality checking
  • The process of evaluation involves self-appraisal of the teacher, and student evaluation. The IQAC also conducts an annual evaluation through the SQC

A semester-wise review of examination results, and a discussion of measures to improve student performance, are undertaken by each department and the IQAC, to ensure that any shortcomings or flaws in performance and evaluation are taken care of. Student Quality Circles (SQCs) have been constituted to ensure that the most important stakeholders – the students – are involved in the decision-making process and are able to express their views on matters concerning them.

  • The establishment and functioning of a vibrant IQAC is one of the most important initiatives that help in the promotion of best practices in the institution.
  • The first stage of initiating best practices is at the grass root level, i.e. at the level of individual student/faculty/other stakeholders of the institution.
  • The orientation for the First Year students begins on the reopening day itself.
  • Student feedback is an important feature of the college. Orientation for the newly appointed staff is conducted through seminars and meetings in a phased manner.
  • The second level is at the department with the BOS and its members discussing best practices at the departmental level.
  • The third level is at the management level aided by the Academic Council and the Governing Body formulating the policy for the college as a whole.
  • The IQAC provides a catchment area where innovative ideas are thrown up for discussion. It acts as a conduit between the stakeholders and management, and provides the forum for discussion & debate.
  • The Academic Audit Cell of the college meets periodically to review the academic activities of each department in order to ensure quality enhancement.

Best practices, irrespective of where they originate are recorded at the IQAC and the ideas get disseminated across every function of the institution ensuring that best practices are internalized and get woven into the very fabric of the institution.

The principal of the college is the chairperson of the cell, and one of the faculty members is the IQAC coordinator. The cell includes also heads of departments, and representatives from alumnae, industry and academia, along with representatives from the management and students. IQAC Team for Academic Year 2020-21
