Department of Public Administration

The Department of Public Administration was established along with the college making it one of the oldest departments of the College. It is known for the practical experience that it imparts to students on various issues of governance, making them ready for higher studies and competition.

The Department of Public Administration was established in the year 1959.The students during their academic stay of three years understand the evolution, nature, role and importance of Public Administration. The discipline aims to equip students with the necessary knowledge, understanding and skills relevant for Local, State, National and International governance. The concepts and principles of administration enable the student to use them practically in managing day to day affairs and to become good citizens. The academic course offered by the department provides a strong foundation for the young aspirants to ace all the competitive examinations at the central, state and local levels. The department’s club Chanakya is a platform where students can explore their hidden talents and enhance their working knowledge about Public Policy Formulation and execution through various competitions like Extempore, Debate, Collage Making, Chartistics, Treasure hunt, Essay Writing, Doodling etc. The main aim of this forum is to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical application.

Objectives
  • To introduce students to various issues and challenges of administration, Policies and Programmes of the government and gain knowledge about constitutional values of the country
  • Facilitate education of future administrators through innovative and incisive teaching - learning process
  • To garner their interest in the working of public machinery with emphasize on the need of the subject in changing times
  • To encourages students to become vigilant, enlightened citizens who are sensitive to social issues which is the need of the present world and making them active participants of administration
