PGD in Analytical Chemistry

This Programme is introduced to bridge the gap between academics and industry. A number of conventional and modern analytical techniques along with their principle, instrumentation and applications are included in the programme.

Industrial visits and three weeks of in-plant training is the additional feature of this programme. Post Graduate Diploma in Analytical Chemistry (PGDAC) is a continuing education programme aimed for the enhancement of skills of the chemists employed in Industry, Research & Development and National Laboratories.

It is also useful for all those Science Graduates who are aspiring to get employment in these labs.

Programme Objectives

The primary objective of this course is to acquire basic concepts, principles, and techniques of modern analytical chemistry that would empower students with an analytical mindset and the ability to solve diverse analytical problems in an efficient and quantitative way that conveys the importance of accuracy and precision of the analytical results.

  • To develop an understanding of the range and uses of analytical methods in chemistry.
  • To establish an appreciation of the role of chemistry in quantitative analysis.
  • To develop an understanding of the broad role of the chemist in measurement and problem solving for analytical tasks.
  • To provide an understanding of chemical methods employed for elemental and compound analysis.
  • To provide experience in some scientific methods employed in analytical chemistry.
  • To develop some understanding of the professional and safety responsibilities residing in working on chemical analysis.

Programme Outcome

The student learns the skill to prepare standard solutions, samples and analysis of the samples by using accurate methods. The course makes the student learn how to prepare solutions quantitatively and analyze the analyte with high accuracy.
