The department was established in 1988, an iconic year in the lifeline of St. Francis College as it marks the grant of autonomy to the college.Computer Science is an interdisciplinary field and it is as much about teaching and learning of computer science as it is about the areas that impact on computer science – mathematics, linguistics, natural sciences, psychology, philosophy and how they interrelate with the theory and practice of education. Highly qualified and dedicated teaching faculty supported by equally able and competent lab faculty are the strength of the department.The college has hi-tech state of the art computer labs with over 400 high end computer terminals facilitated with high-speed internet access and connected to Linux and Windows servers equipped with all the required licensed software.
The department offers an assortment of programs at the undergraduate level, M.Sc. Computer Science at the postgraduate level and CCNA certification course. While we believe man is still the most extraordinary computer of all, we endeavour to provide the best possible exposure and training to the students, making them strong to face the IT challenges of the world.
