The PLP (Psychology, Literature and Political Science) is an undergraduate program aimed at providing inter-disciplinary perspectives on society and its dynamics and equipping the students with an insightful understanding of human behaviour, expression, communication and inter-personal relations through profound theoretical knowledge and practical experience. It seeks holistic development of students that includes communication skills, critical thinking and analysis, creative expressions, leadership, and national and global political awareness. This course stands for academic competence, intellectual development, and knowledge/skill-based education preparing the students for advanced studies in the disciplines of Psychology, English Literature and Political Science and a promising career in the fields of counselling, research, creative writing, corporate communication, and policy making.

What will you Learn?

A strong conceptual foundation in psychology by understanding the biological and theoretical bases of behaviour.

key personality theories and abnormal psychology while building practical skills through cognitive experiments and psychological tests.

Comprehensive understanding of social psychology and applied psychological concepts through standardized assessments, while honing research and statistical analysis skills for psychological research.

The historical and cultural contexts of the 16th – 17thCentury British literature and the genre of English Novel from 18th -19th century British literature.

An understanding of socio- economic, political, religious and linguistic issues of the 20th century, through the study of British literary texts and introduction to the various genres of Indian writing in English.

Introduction to various texts of world literature and critical analysis of literary texts.

Basic concepts and institutions in politics and the working of the Indian political system.

History of Western Political Thought and the basic concepts and theories of International Relations.

Conflicts in contemporary societies, global political issues and a history of Indian Political Thought.

Career Prospects

  • Psychological Research Assistant – The course equips students with a comprehensive understanding of research methodology, statistical analysis, and data interpretation. These foundational skills are essential for roles as research assistants in academic institutions and research organizations.
  • Advanced Studies and Professional Avenues –The undergraduate course prepares them for postgraduate studies and career opportunities in diverse fields, including Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Health Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Neuropsychology, School Psychology and Organizational Psychology.
  • Social Services and Community Work – With a deep understanding of social psychology and allied courses students are well-prepared for internships or entry-level roles in social services. This includes roles in community programs, working with at-risk populations, or supporting mental health initiatives, all of which benefit from the knowledge gained through the program.
