Overview

Carrying a legacy of excellence, the library has been the silent backbone of the institution, supporting generations of scholars and fostering a culture of academic excellence. It has grown and evolved over the years, adapting to the changing needs of its users. Housed in the New Block inaugurated in 1996, the library occupies the entire ground floor, spanning 20,000 sq.ft. The library has a vast collection of books, journals, magazines, newspapers, e-journals, e-content CDs, and DVDs. The library is fully automated through the ILMS software "SLIM," which was installed in 2002 and has been continuously upgraded to "SLIM 21" and later to iSLIM.in in 2024. The library management system uses barcode technology to keep track of lending, borrowing, and shelving status of items.

Vision

The vision of the library has always been to be an invaluable source that empowers students, present and past, researchers, and faculty at large in their academic pursuits by providing a diverse, ancient to modern, and a well-balanced collection of books, journals, magazines, projects and e-resources.

Mission

The mission of the library is to support the college's curriculum and objectives by:

  • Procuring and providing a vast collection of specialized information resources.
  • Enabling user-friendly access to the resources, including both traditional and modern (electronic) retrieval methods like the OPAC system.
  • Educating students and staff on how to effectively use the library and cultivate self-study skills.
  • Utilizing technology innovatively, such as library software, to deliver resources efficiently.
Message from the Librarian:

"A library is more than a collection of books—it is a gateway to knowledge, creativity, and lifelong learning. Here, we aim to provide resources that inspire curiosity, support academic growth, and encourage the joy of reading. Our mission is to create a space where students, faculty, and the community can explore ideas, access information, and develop skills that will serve them throughout life. Along with traditional books and journals, we offer digital resources, research support, and a comfortable environment for study and collaboration. I invite you to make the most of the facilities, participate in our programs, and allow the library to be a partner in your journey of discovery and success."

Warm regards,
B. Geetha
