UBA – Unnat Bharat Abhiyan

St. Francis College for Women is part of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan 2.0 program initiated by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The programme aims to bring transformational change in rural development by leveraging higher educational institutions to build an inclusive India. Its mission is to enable higher educational institutions to work with the people of rural India in identifying region-specific challenges and evolving realistic solutions for sustainable growth. It also promotes dissemination of information regarding various government-sponsored schemes.

Objectives

  • Bring awareness to Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment)
  • Ensure proper waste segregation and composting
  • Empower women in making sustainable cleaning products
  • Raise awareness of the importance of health and hygiene
  • Provide education on the importance of a balanced diet
  • Foster awareness on common diseases
  • Disseminate information about central government programs
  • Disseminate information about state government programs
  • Foster awareness of social issues like alcoholism, women’s and children’s rights

Goals

  • Empower communities through green practices for environmental sustainability
  • Promote improved health and hygiene through community education
  • Promote awareness about social issues and government-sponsored schemes

Adopted Villages

The college has enrolled in the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) and adopted four Thandas and one colony – Lakshmi Nagar from Kandi Mandal of Sangareddy District:

  • Vaddenaguda Thanda
  • Erdanoor Thanda
  • Ippalagadda Thanda
  • Lakshmi Nagar Colony (Differently abled colony in Kandi Village)
  • Kandi Thanda
