Overview

Statistics - Department Overview The Department of Statistics in St. Francis College for Women, established in 1988 initially started with one course BSc (MSCs). The introduction of two additional courses B.Sc (Software Engineering) in 2012 and B.Sc (M.E.S) in 2024 shows a clear commitment to expanding educational offerings and enhancing the statistical abilities of students over time. This progression reflects an evolving understanding of the discipline and the growing demand for more advanced or specialized knowledge in statistics.

Annual Inter Collegiate Fest

Brings out the creativity and leadership qualities of the students. The students actively participate in the planning and execution of the events by giving their inputs and working together making the event a bright success.

Project Work

The project is done as a group which will develop team work and also help the students to share their thoughts and ideas. It also develops critical thinking in the planning and execution of the project.

Commemorative Day – National Statistics Day

National Statistics Day is celebrated annually in India on June 29 to honour the birth anniversary of Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, a distinguished statistician and economist. On this day, numerous events are organized by the department to promote statistical literacy and raise awareness about the significance of data in various fields.
