Overview

"Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less." - Marie Curie

Chemistry plays an integral role across all scientific pursuits, ranging from the creation of everyday essential products to the quest for understanding life beyond our planet. At St. Francis College for Women, the Department of Chemistry excels in nurturing young minds in this pivotal discipline.

Established in 1962, the department offers undergraduate programs and a postgraduate program specializing in Organic Chemistry. The faculty, equipped with excellent academic credentials, actively engage in diverse research areas within the field of chemistry, contributing to reputed journals.

With state-of-the-art laboratories, modern teaching aids that are innovative, research-driven pedagogical methods and skill enhancement activities, become integral to the curriculum.

The department goes beyond academics by organizing guest lectures, seminars, workshops, field visits, educational tours, and various intra- and inter-college competitions. Collaborations with premier institutions and organizations such as NCCCM, AMD, IICT, CCMB, ARCI, JNCASR, IIIT Hyderabad, Dr. Reddy's, Mylan, GVKBio, Biological E, Sai Life Sciences, Aurigan, Thermofisher, Pharma Patashala and Natco Pharma provide students with valuable internship opportunities and project experiences.
