Overview

Established in 1959, the Department of Economics is one of the oldest departments of the College, having been founded alongside the institution. Since its inception, the department has been dedicated to academic excellence, offering a dynamic and innovative syllabus that evolves with global and national developments.

Currently, the department offers two academic combinations—one with B.A. and another with B.Sc.—catering to a diverse range of student interests. Its core vision is to enrich the academic journey of students by engaging with key economic issues and ideas, while maintaining a strong foundation in the fundamentals of the subject.

The curriculum is regularly restructured to stay relevant in a rapidly changing world. Innovative teaching methods, including the introduction of practical papers in every semester, help students gain a deeper understanding of economics and prepare them to compete in national and international entrance examinations.
