The Sports Department is a vibrant hub of energy, enthusiasm, and excellence. Committed to promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and holistic development, it encourages every student to participate actively in sports and games. The department not only nurtures athletic talent but also instills values like discipline, teamwork, and perseverance.

With well-structured training programs, professional coaching, and regular intercollegiate competitions, the department ensures that students get the platform to showcase their abilities and grow as confident individuals.

"Yes. Play. Yes." — because play is more than just a game; it's a mind-set, a lifestyle, and a pathway to holistic growth, both on and off the field.

The Sports department is well equipped with modern infrastructure, dedicated coaches, and a passionate team that works tirelessly to identify and nurture talent. From athletics to team sports like Basketball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Badminton, Handball and Baseball, students are encouraged to explore, participate, and excel in various disciplines.

Every student of St. Francis College is encouraged to participate in sports activities through various programs. The students who opt for the sports department club "Krida" will have to put in mandatory 60hrs of sports activities - 30 hours Certificate Course in any discipline and 30 hours of Physical Activity. Regular Intra Murals sports Tournaments are organized for Students and staff (Teaching & Non-Teaching) within the college premises encouraging an active participation by the staff and students.

International Achievements (2021-2025)

The following legends of International players of St. Francis college for women represented for the World University games/ All India Universities / South Zone Universities & players represented in the various disciplines for the association of Telangana region for the past 5 years (2021-2025).

A. Sreemanya Reddy

Participated in the World Tennis Federation ranking tournaments from 15th Sept, 2025 to 19th Sept, 2025 at Tunisia.

D. Hasini Yadav

Participated in the AITA one lakh rupees Tournament at Navi Mumbai on 15th Sept, 2025 to 19th Sept, 2025 & secured Gold medal.

Vritti Agarwal

Represented India by participating in the Asian Aquatics Championship held at Ahmedabad, Gujarat, from 28-Sept-25 to 1-Oct-2025.

Laveti Dharani

International Sailor. She has been attending the Indian Camp for the preparation for Asian Sailing Competition to be held at Japan in the year 2026.

Nagamoksha Yerram

Participated in the Asian Pickleball Junior Open Tournament held in Vietnam from 13th July 2025 to 15th July, 2025.

She participated in Monsoon Pickleball from 29th July, 2025 to 3rd Aug, 2025 at Navi Mumbai secured Bronze medal in Singles Category and in under 18 mixed doubles women premier league she secured Silver Medal.
She participated in Hyderabad Pickleball Tournament held at Gandipet from 16th Aug, 2025 to 17th Aug, 2025 and Won Silver medal in open mixed doubles.

Guidelines for Sports Participation

Students opting for sports are required to complete their certificate course in any sport during the first two years of their UG with a compulsory attendance of 30 hrs.
Students who represent the college at district, state, zonal, all-India inter-varsity, and national and international levels are required to have at least 50% attendance in order to appear for the examinations.
Students are allowed a re-test in case of a clash between sports event dates and Internal Assessment examination dates, if they represent college, upon prior intimation. This facility is, however, not available for semester-end examinations, in order to ensure that the academic career of the student is not affected.
The college appoints coaches on a part-time basis for preparing the players and teams to participate in the Inter Collegiate Tournaments and thereafter to be selected to represent Osmania University in the Inter University Tournaments in the following disciplines: basketball, badminton, table tennis, handball, volleyball, baseball, softball.
Certificate Courses in: basketball, handball, volleyball, throwball, shuttle badminton, and karate. The minimum number of students required for running a certificate course in sports is 40.
The college invites applications for admission from students who have participated at state, national and international levels under the sports quota. The application should be superscribed as "Sports Quota", and all relevant certificates must be submitted. These students will have to attend an interview on a date fixed for the same. All support required for the student to further her career will be provided by the department and the college.
